Help Hub is made up of a team of people from all backgrounds, get to know them all here!

Angela

Rosa

Throughout my working career, I have worked with people. Initially, I worked as a Police Officer in the Chapeltown area of Leeds which equipped me well in respect of understanding people and dealing with complex community issues. Later, I worked with Bradford Social Services where I undertook community assessments of children and their families where child protection issues were known or suspected. In the latter part of my career, I worked as a Registered Manager for a supported living provider and as a Registered Manager with Carers Resource.

My work experience has engendered in me a passion for advocacy; for enabling people who are ‘stuck’ to have a voice that is heard.

I am proud to be a Trustee in the vibrant and knowledgeable Help Hub Team.

I love walking my dog, playing tennis and and sea swimming.

Trish

Steve

Having had a career as a nurse, I spent several years concentrating on raising my family.

In 2006 I became aware of advocacy and this became my passion and my career. I began to work for Advocacy Alliance in 2011 after relocating the the east coast until my retirement in 2020.

Volunteering as a trustee for Help Hub enables me to remain involved and up to date with advocacy whilst allowing me to give something back to the community.

As Help Hub's treasurer my main responsibilities are to take oversight of our finances, see that we have good systems in place to manage our money and ensure that we operate with probity and meet our legal requirements such as submitting our annual accounts to the Charity Commission. I advise the Board of Trustees regularly on our financial position.

Sam

Steve

Sam is a former solicitor and after years of telling her law students they should consider becoming trustees to help their local communities, she finally took the plunge herself!

Volunteering is good for the soul and Sam is happiest casting her legal eye over Help Hub's policies.

Helen

Steve

I qualified as a teacher for children who have special needs in 1977 and was awarded an honorary degree in 2025!

I worked with adults who have a learning disability for more than 20 years and then became a volunteer and trustee for Advocacy Alliance. I helped people to communicate their wishes during my time at Scarborough training centre and as support for speak up members at the Learning Disability partnership board 2005-2010.

I am proud to be a supporter of this organisation which has helped many people to successfully voice their problems and wishes.

Help Hub will enable more people to come forward for support.

Whatever your circumstances, it's not easy to make your voice heard when you have a problem, but it helps to have understanding professionals and volunteers at your side.

Now I'm retired (I think) I enjoy singing with Scarborough community choir, gardening, keeping fit and active, and making my homemade jam. I am also passionate about caring for the environment, trying to live in a sustainable way.

Ben

Helen

I have been a Trustee since 2019, supporting the fantastic staff team to ensure Help Hub's work remains both innovative and sustainable.

As a music educator with a focus on inclusion and technology (you can find out more about my work over on my website), I bring some expertise in additional learning needs and neurodiversity to the trustee board, as well as a deep love and solidarity for my hometown of Scarborough.
