Help Hub is made up of a team of people from all backgrounds, get to know them all here!

I have worked with the charity for over 26 years and enjoy working alongside the amazing team at Help Hub.

I love my work and am passionate about people being treated fairly and equally. I still get angry and upset when I hear of people being treated unjustly.

Before working here, I worked in care settings where I gained my passion for people being allowed to make their own choices without being judged by others.

I enjoy reading and attend a monthly book club. I go sea swimming regularly and appreciate the fact that I live in an area where I have access to beautiful beaches and coastlines.

I also love walking my dog in my spare time and I have recently begun to explore my artistic side by attending courses and art based community events.

I’m a busy mum and carer who knows that life doesn’t always go to plan—which is probably why I’ve developed a strong sense of compassion and equity (and a love for finding the world’s best wine).

I’ve been with Help Hub for 9 years now, working as the office manager and keeping things in the office organised… mostly!

We're a small team doing big things, supporting people in all sorts of circumstances, and I’m proud to be part of that. Life can be tough and it can affect anyone, and I know from experience that sometimes a bit of help can make a huge difference.

Outside of work, I’m usually juggling family life or planning a trip somewhere new to reset. Being part of a charity that really cares about people means a lot to me—and I truly believe Help Hub makes a positive impact.

My career background includes working for the NHS, for Local Authorities and for Nonprofit organisations – some within North Yorkshire and some as far south as Gloucestershire. Much of my work was supporting people to help them get the service they needed and deserved. Challenging poor decision making by service providers and statutory agencies.

I guess I never thought of it as being advocacy, just something I did as I wanted to help make children's' and adult's lives better. I was so pleased to be accepted as part of the Help Hub team and have been here for 5 years now. Each day brings challenges for so many people.  If I can help them navigate the complex and at times overwhelming processes put in place by society, then I feel that I have achieved something.

I am the proud “Nana” of 4 grandchildren and currently have 3 rescue dogs that encourage me to do lots of exercise.

I enjoy gardening and getting out in nature is my way of finding joy in each day.

Before working at Help Hub, I was a support worker for adults with Learning difficulties for ten years. I started support work as a young adult with no experience and grew alongside the job and feel it shaped the person I am today. Support work gave me a passion for inclusion, equality and helping people, but mostly the need for people to be heard. I often saw the individuals I supported not being listened to, especially when decisions were being made for them without consideration of what the person really wanted. I realised that my goal was to play a part to change this and the key was Advocacy, which led me to my role here at Help Hub. In my spare time I am a busy Mum, who loves history, jigsaws and a good crime series with a brew! I am proud to be part of such a lovely team of people who want to make a difference and love coming to work each day.

Having a job that makes a difference for people has always been a priority for me.  My background is working with children and families but  I have spent over 9 years as an advocate, with Help Hub, supporting a diverse range of adults from 18 to 90+.

I strongly believe that everyone should have access to an advocate when they need one be it a family member, friend or organisation like ours.

When I am not at work you will find me in my art studio or socialising with family and friends. And if I get a moment I will travel, walk, read and garden...I love a busy life!

From fundraising to community support, I have always tried to stay engaged in everything going on in the area.

As a former volunteer for both WRVS (now RVS) and the Wonkey McDonky Fundraising group, I love speaking to people and helping to lighten even the darkest times.

In my spare time I love settling down in front of the TV with a good video game, getting hooked in a book or painting miniatures to relax. I also enjoy speaking at great length about trading cards, much to the dismay of the rest of the team.

Being neurodivergent, I understand what it can mean to be overwhelmed by tough circumstances, which is why I joined the team at Help Hub - if I can do anything to ease that strain for somebody else, I can go home happy!
